Upton: Ruth Bader Ginsburg A Trailblazer

Congressman Fred Upton is remembering Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as “a thoughtful, gentle woman who, with real precision, could disarm any argument with respect from all sides.” He tells WSJM News the country mourns.

“She was a trailblazer,” Upton said. “She was widely respected on both sides of the aisle, and she rightly so is going to lie in state at the U.S. Capitol, actually the first woman ever to do so, and well deserved.”

We asked Upton if he ever got to meet Bader Ginsburg.

“Believe it or not, she threw out the first pitch at a Cubs game a number of years ago. I’m not sure if the ball reached home plate, at least in the air, but I met her. She was a guest of Senator Durbin, who like me is a big Cubs fan, and it was pretty remarkable.”

Upton says the country mourns. Regarding the replacement for Bader Ginsburg, he says there’s a 90 to 100% chance the Senate will vote on President Trump’s nominee within the next 45 days.
