It’s already time to start thinking about gifts for the holidays. Despite the global coronavirus pandemic, Michigan Retailers Association spokeswoman Meaghan Holland, says the holiday shopping outlook is pretty good.
“We expect they will get out and shop, hopefully earlier than usual,” says Holland. “The national forecasts say that holiday sales will grow around 1.5% this year.”
Holland says Deloitte predicts $1.14 trillion will be spent on the holidays nationwide. In Michigan, she says 49% of retailers predict sales will continue to rise through December, while 31% expect a sales decline, while 20% expect no change.
