Mary Bell Sundquist, 89, of Benton Township died Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the Pine Ridge Nursing Home in Lincoln Township.
Service celebrating her life will be held at 1 PM on Monday, October 26, 2020 at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 11 AM on Monday until service time. Memorials may be made to the Senior Center. Mary was born on May 8, 1931 in Benton Harbor to George and Lillie Couch. Mary was employed at the Whitcomb Tower and then for 16 years as the Manager at the St. Joseph Elks. After that she was the bar manager at the Point of the Woods for 13 years before her retirement in 1993. After her retirement she worked at the Senior Center as the Nutrient Manager until 2000. Mary enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards. She also enjoyed the Senior Center and working there.
Her family includes her daughters, Sandy (Tim) Markham of Benton Township and Wendy Sundquist of Bridgman and her grandchildren, Tony and Dan Martin, brother-in-law Duane Schneider, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Lillie Couch, brothers Robert, Ace, Sam, and Jack Couch, and sisters Pauline LaVanway, Martha Cubbage, Juanita Norman, and Betty Schneider.
