Benton Harbor City Manager Ellis Mitchell says he’s planning a Youth Summit to learn what improvements the community’s young people want to see. Mitchell told city commissioners on Monday he came to the idea after a planning session at Union Park last Friday.
“We had a good number of people, but the missing link was the youth,” Mitchell said. “After the meeting, I went over and talked to Wilson Chandler, an he really brought it home to me that we are not paying enough attention to the youth.”
Mitchell said he and Chandler, a former New York Knick and Denver Nugget, are working on plans for the summit now. He told commissioners to keep their eyes open for further information as the event comes together. He said it will be May 15.
