Amtrak Slams Into Cadillac In Southern Berrien County

Michigan State Police are investigating a crash between a train and a Cadillac El Dorado Wednesday night north of US-12 near JD’s Truck Stop. Troopers say the driver of the vehicle was gone when they arrived and they later found him at the hospital being treated for injuries. The Amtrak train was doing around 90 miles per hour when the crash happened just before 7 pm. The train wasn’t able to fully stop for a quarter mile, and no one on board was hurt. The Cadillac driver was ticketed for leaving the scene of the crash and for disregarding train crossing signals.
